Crowdfunding
Can I tell my friends about the campaign?
Absolutely, please do! Word of mouth is one of the biggest drivers of a successful campaign, and every share, forward, or “hey, check this out” from you helps us reach more people who’d love Hooked as much as you do. Feel free to share our campaign page, tag us on social media, or just tell people about it over dinner. The more of our community that gets involved, the stronger our launch will be.
I don’t have WERO (iDEAL).
No problem. WERO is the successor to iDEAL, and it’s already rolled out to many European banks, so there’s a good chance your bank supports it without you realizing it yet. Most major banks across Europe are on board or in the process of joining. You can check a partial list of participating banks on the official website: wero-wallet.eu Note that not every supported bank is listed there, so it’s worth checking your own banking app too.
If your bank isn’t part of the system yet, you can open a free additional bank account with a provider like bunq or Revolut, both of which support WERO.
I don’t have a Dutch/Belgian/German bank account. What now?
No worries! We’ll find a solution together.
For now, our crowdfunding is limited to WERO (iDEAL) payments from bank accounts in NL, BE, or DE due to technical limitations on the platform side.
Quick tip: you can often tell whether an account will work just by looking at your IBAN — it starts with a two-letter country code. If yours starts with NL, BE, or DE, you should be good to go.
Worth knowing: bunq also lets you pick an IBAN from a different country than where you live through their “International Bank Account” feature, though that’s only available on some of their paid plans.
But if that’s not possible for you and you’d still like to invest in Hooked, just send us a message with your name, place of residence, the amount you’d like to pledge, and your contact details. We’ll collect all these requests and actively try to find a solution for you during the campaign’s runtime. Please bear with us if it takes us a few days or even weeks to get back to you. As a small team, we’re juggling a lot during the campaign, and we appreciate your patience.
Who can participate?
Everyone is welcome to join us on this journey! Whether you’re a die-hard escape room fan, a first-time backer, or simply excited to see something new come to life.
To process your pledge, you need a bank account in the Netherlands (NL), Belgium (BE), or Germany (DE). If you don’t have access to one of these but really want to take part in the crowdfunding, please contact us via email so we can figure something out together. Please include the amount you want to pledge and your personal details (name, place, and contact details) in your message.
My pledge doesn’t appear on the page yet. What’s wrong?
Nothing’s wrong. This is a known technical delay. New pledges can take up to 45 minutes to appear on the page. This is especially common for pledges made from Germany (DE) and Belgium (BE); pledges from the Netherlands (NL) are usually processed faster. If your pledge still hasn’t appeared after 45 minutes, please contact us and we’ll look into it.
Escape Games / Your Visit
What if want to stop mid-game?
Your safety and comfort are our absolute priority and leaving the experience is always an option, no questions asked.
Our game masters monitor every step of the experience closely and are trained to recognise when someone needs support. If at any point the experience becomes too much and you would like to stop, simply cross your arms in front of your body and call out “game over”. This universal signal immediately alerts our team, and you will be calmly and swiftly escorted out of the experience.
Please note that once you have left the experience, re-entry is not possible. This is to protect the integrity of the game for the rest of your group.
We want everyone to have an extraordinary time and sometimes that means knowing when to step out. There is no shame in it.
I am not really a horror person. Is this still something for me?
Honestly, this question makes us happy. Because it means you are already thinking about it.
We understand the hesitation. The word “horror” carries a lot of baggage – gore, jumpscares, things leaping out of the dark for no reason other than to make you spill your drink. That is not what we do.
For us, horror is a tool. The most powerful one we have. Used well, it sharpens every sense, makes every detail feel meaningful, and turns a group of people into a team without anyone having to say the word teamwork. Fear, the right kind, in the right doses, makes you present in a way almost nothing else can.
What we build is closer to a psychological thriller than a haunted house. There is atmosphere, tension, and a story that pulls you in. There are moments that will make your heart race. But there are no cheap jumpscares, no gratuitous gore, and no moments that exist purely to shock.
If you have ever been gripped by a tense film, lost yourself in a good thriller, or felt that particular excitement of not knowing what comes next, you are exactly the kind of person we built this for.
Still not sure? Give us a call. We are happy to tell you more about what the experience actually feels like without giving away what makes it special.
I have arachnophobia. Can I still play?
There are no real spiders in our rooms. Not one. What you will encounter are carefully crafted visuals, sounds, and theatrical effects that create a powerful sense of atmosphere because that is what this experience is built on. Atmosphere, tension, and story. The creature is a presence, not a protagonist.
If spiders make you uncomfortable but you can handle seeing them in a film or on a screen, you will almost certainly be fine. Most players with mild to moderate arachnophobia tell us afterwards that the emotional journey of the game took over completely and that is exactly what we designed it to do.
If your fear is more severe, we would genuinely love to talk to you before you book. Give us a call and we can tell you a little more about what the experience involves without spoiling what makes it special. We want everyone who walks through our door to have the best possible time, and that conversation costs nothing.
